  • (0:10) Multiplying Decimals (Step 1): Ignore the decimal points initially and multiply the numbers as if they were whole numbers. For example, multiply 0.34 × 2.5 as 34 × 25 = 850.
  • (0:28)  Multiplying Decimals (Step 2): Add up the decimal places in both original decimal numbers. For 0.34 (2 places) and 2.5 (1 place), the total is 3 decimal places.
  • (0:46) Multiplying Decimals (Step 3): Move the decimal point to the left by the total number of decimal places. For 850 with 3 places, the result is 0.85.
  • (2:05) How to Multiply Decimals (Real-Life Example): To calculate a taxi fare of £6.5 per km over 8.12 km, ignore decimals and calculate 65 × 812 = 52,780. With 3 decimal places, the answer is £52.78.
